It’s graphics, AI, map maker and online tools are far superior to SC. Both at the time of their release were the best looking RTS around and both were powerful, but as time passes, SC2 is just the better technical game, but in relation to their time of release, both were ahead of their time.

although in general SC1 and BW are harder than SC2 normal and hard. I never had trouble with SC1 and BW in high school and was pretty bad at multiplayer. I finished college now, am much better at multiplayer, and am actually challenged by SC2 brutal. They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe.
Is StarCraft 1 or 2 easier?
You can play on Very Easy, on Brutal or anything inbetween. BW has only one degree of difficulty and I think it’s harder than very easy in sc2 for sure. Also getting into sc2 is easier because of the more modern UI. So I’d say for RTS beginners starting with the sc2 single player on the easiest mode is indeed easier.
